Installing keyless entry in 86 944 - wiring questions please
I'm installing this keyless entry/alarm system from Circuit City:
http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Code...roductDetail.do
and actuators in the doors ala these great threads - http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforu...44&page=1&pp=15
http://www.944time.com/944/944doorlock.stm :caution, nude picture on this guys site if you might be offended
I have done similar projects before but still have 2 wiring questions for you experts:
1) A parking flash +12v wire is provided by the kit, but the 944 divides the parking into L & R wires - grey/black and grey/red, respectively. Can I install 2 diodes off the single wire to feed the two sides and thereby keep the L & R systems isolated? Would one diode on one side be enough to prevent cross currents?
2) A rear trunk button with a negative pulsed low current wire is provided. I realize I will have to go through a relay. But the confusing thing is how the rear hatch release switch/motor is wired. Someone said to pulse the blue wire with +12volts - yet the switch seems to be shorting the motor in the neutral position and it doesn't look like this would work. Sheesh - they don't make life easy Keyless entry 86 Porsche 944 -- posted image.
Help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. SDGuy in San Diego

I would use 2 relays on the parking lights, diodes won't do it.
The trunk release is basically a 5 wire. This is from DEI-
Wire sits at motor ground at rest. Use relay to open switch side and pulse 12V+ to motor side.

Ken - thank you.

OK, on the 2 relays for the parking lights.  No prob.

I'm still a little fuzzy on the hatch release.  Did DEI happen to have color code for which wire gets lifted off the switch and pulsed - was it the blue? I assume I'll need only one relay with the blue wire disconnected from the switch and going to relay pin 30, orginal switch location to 87a, and 12v+ to 87?

Thanks much for your time.  SDGuy

According to the info the wire is RED / white in the drivers kick or at the switch. Yes the way i read this you need to cut the RED / white and interupt it with your relay to make it work. Good luck

Ken, the RED / white turns into the blue wire at the switch.  So I lifted the blue wire at the switch and used the relay as I described above. Wiring 87a back to the switch allows the switch to still operate when the relay is untripped.  When the relay trips, it sends +12v on the blue wire and pops the hatch. You did me a tremedous favor, thanks again!  SDGuy
