I have a 2000 grand am gt, I installed the whole system on it.  But when I goto start the car, it just starts and stops three times.  I installed the same one on my 98 chevy pickup and had no problem.  I installed the bypass module and everything.  I checked the tach to see if it works, the led blinks to set it, so it works.  I checked the wiring 4 times to match it up to the specific wires on the diagram that i got form this site.  i have no idea what is going on.  Please help.

Thank you

It sounds to me like a tach signal problem however we have experienced some of the same problems with our junior installers.  Find the exact problem by process of elimination.  Make sure is by-pass module is engaging during the crank-up.  Double check your ignition connections-accessory wires from the 791 do not send 12 volts until AFTER the starting process.  Check your voltages AT THE 791 harness to ensure a good connection.  Hoped I helped some.

Good Luck

Marty

What bypass module did you use? Is the "security" light flashing in the dash when it shuts down? When it does start, is the starter hanging severely? When you are learning tach, is the LED "on" or flashing rapidly? Where did you get tach?
