Please help me :(
I have spent the last week trying to install this remote start, and quite frankly I'm fed up... I've installed them before, but nothing in a car like this with so many things that can go wrong. I'm installing it in a 1999 Grand AM GT.
I have installed every wire, every relay, every diode, every resistor, and every passlock bypass. Here's what I know works for sure: The passlock bypass because i get a good signal and the security light does not turn on. The starter kill relay. Door locks with resistor.
Everything else? it doesn't work. When I plug all my wires into the brain, the siren will chirp, but that's the only sign of life I get. From there on, here's what happens... The door locks will lock, the LED glows steady with a VERY dull glow. the remote control doesn't respond at all. none of the buttons do anything. When i leave the ignition on the ON position, the chime will go off every few seconds, twice in a row, three times in a row, or just once.... what's the deal with that? also, when the harness is all plugged into the brain, i can no longer use the inside door lock buttons. Also, I hooked right into the electrical harness for the parking lights, but those do not flash....
Here's what I've problem shooted... The 6pin main harness contains 2 12 volts, 1 starter, 1 accessory, 1 ign1, 1 ign2. When i check the power, the constants put out 14V, the rest nothing. When I put it on the on position, the acc, ign1, and ign2 get 14V, and the starter gets around 8V when cranking. I've also thought it was the brain, so I even sent the brain back, and got a new one. Same problems as before, so I know I screwed some wiring up...
I noticed that there are two accessory wires, and 2 ign1 wires if my memory serves me right. I only tapped one of each. Is that my problem? But i can't imagine that that alone is causing all these problems.....
Please help me, any suggestions, anything will help out a lot. I consider myself to be a semi-pro installer, and this isn't my first... I've installed on 97 F-150, 90 Taurus SHO, 91 Astro, 97 Avalon, and each of those gave nothing but GREAT results the minute i plugged in the brain and hit the buttons... this one? I'm about ready to give up on....
Please help this tired installer.....

Here are a few troubleshooting suggestions:

1. Always check the integrity of your power and ground connections.  Make sure you have a good short ground wire directly to the chassis with a star washer.  Check to make sure the power wires are connected to a good source of power.  We recommend connection directly to the Battery positive terminal, however if you must connect them elsewhere make sure +12V feed wire is at least the same gauge or larger than that of the wires you are connecting.  Also check to make sure that power is getting though the fuse holders.  These plastic fuse holders are machine crimped and sometimes for whatever reason there is not a good crimp.  Check voltage on each side of the fuse with the fuse fully inserted to make sure power is traveling through.
2. Get a fresh pair of eyes to check out your install.  If you have been working on the same thing and getting frustrated for a long time, sometimes you can "miss" or overlook something obvious.  Do have any friends, relatives, or installers in your area familiar with alarm or remote start wiring?

3. Since the unit does not respond to the remotes, there may be a problem with the external antenna. The external antenna is an intergral part of your system as it also houses the receiver and requires power from the main module.  When you tried swapping out the unit did you swap the antenna too? Check to make sure that the antenna is plugged into the correct receptacle on the side of the brain where there are no other plugs.  The antenna plug is by itself.  Use a meter to determine that there is 4 to 5 Volts DC coming out of the brain on one of the 3 wires that goes out the windshield antenna.

4. You could also "force" a remote start without the use of a remote control on a CS-2011RS.  Sometimes installers try this to detect wiring flaws. This can be done by touching the "Green: Negative Start Input" wire to a ground for a second.  The unit will instantly "wake up" and perform a start just as if you had pushed the start button on the remote.

5. You can also try disconnecting one wire at a time to see if there is feedback or RF noise coming in on the wire causing a problem for the micorchip in the brain.  Start with non-critical wires such as the Hood Pin, Door Pin, Door Locks, Siren, etc. one-at-a-time, while trying to get the unit to function in between.

Hi Jerry-
These are the following tests I've run to see what is the problem.
1. Constant Power is good (Voltmeter check)
2. Ground is good and solid (physical and Voltmeter check)
3. Siren is good (connected power to it and it went off)
4. Parking lights are good (adding power to the wire triggered the lights and voltmeter check)
5. It appears ign1, ign2, starter and accessory is good (when applying 12volt power, dash lights up, and will trigger starter when applied power)
Those are some of the 100% sure connections, and that they are working.
Here are some odd things:
1. Remote will not respond (antenna lead is getting 3volts)
2. After connecting just the high power harness and then grounding the brain, it will flash the parking lights a number of times, and then leave the igntion in the ON position. Then it will shut off completely.
3. The brain itself becomes warm to the touch after a while of having it plugged in.
4. When grounding the green ground wire to force a remote start, nothing happens.
So a few questions:
1. how can I test my antenna?
2. What other tests can i run to ensure proper connections?
Thanks

have you programmed the remotes to the brain yet? (they don't come programmed)

How many ignition wires do you have hooked up and what wires do you have them hooked too. because the two aux ign wires(yellow & yellow/black I believe) are negative trigger and require a relay to energize the other ignition wires to the vehicle, the crimestopper alarm you have only has two positive output ignition wires(and I know you have more than that)

Have you hooked up the blue hood pin wire, if so make sure your hood is closed or the car will not remote start. Also it sounds like this unit might be in valet mode.
