98 firebird - unlocking doors

This is my first post to this forum but hopefully someone can help me with a technical problem. We installed an alarm (Prestige APS590) with keyless entry and hatch release to a 98 Firebird. Everything works fine until the alarm has been tripped. After it has been tripped, the doors will not unlock and the hatch will not "pop". So to erase the alarm "trip memory", we turn the car on and then back off. The doors will then unlock, but the alarm still chirps 4 times which means there was an intrusion. The only way to clear the chirps is to completely cut power to the alarm and replug it in. Anyone have any ideas? The doors can still be unlocked with the factory keyless keypad but why would the alarm still register as if it has been tripped? And why after the alarm trips does it keep the doors from being unlocked? (We switched out alarm brains just in case it was defective but had same result) Thanks for any help. Rob

Does the doors unlock if you leave the vehicle sitting overnight ? If so, then you don't have RAP system. If the OEM system still works but the aftermarket system doesn't, then it's something to do with the afermarket system. When you trip the system, do you disarm it before you get into the vehicle ( press the unlock button 2 times ) ?Jeff

Your problem may be in how you have your wiring hooked up. On those vehicles you must WAKE UP the BCM to unlock the doors or pop the hatch. Use your door unlock output and your hatch output to pulse the gray/black wire for the passener's side doorpin. Diode isolate the wires. Pulsing the pass. doorpin wire wakes up the BCM and allows the door locks and hatch release to work.sparky
