Hi, I'm pretty much a novice when it comes to alarm installs. I've done one on a past vehicle I used to own and I am now in the position to install an alarm on my girlfriend's mother's 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe.
Mostly everything was going along ok today with the install, but I did hit one snag. When I went to run the + alarm siren wire from the siren in the engine bay to the car's interior, I couldn't find a good place under the hood to run the wire through.
I was curious how the installers do this for this make of vehicle and/or if anyone had a similar problem with this model? If so, how did you get around this?
I know drilling a hole through the firewall is an option, but I'd prefer to go in through a grommet. However when I tried the top grommet (right under the wipers on the firewall) I couldn't find where the wire would come through inside the cab. It seems that the wire got buried behind a HVAC vent or something. Getting the vents out would probably require nearly taking the entire dash apart. That seems a bit extreme to just run one wire.
Does anyone have any pointers? Thanks in advance.

Best tool in the tool box (Clothes hanger).

If a factory grommet is not readily available, I will drill a hole and put a grommet in there.  Not a big deal at all.

Thanks Mike. Good call. I'll give it a look again today and see what's going on under the hood near the firewall.
These front wheel drive vehicles don't make it very easy. 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe alarm -- posted image.

YUP...this ones a b*tch, I have not done one of these, but its simular in some way to others...see if you can drop the fuse box out of the way. you dont need much room to get into a factory rubber grommet.?????

Hey KarTune, I took your advice. I saw that one spot to go through near the brake master cylinder and went through the wall there.
The master cylinder (or I guess it's the booster) is about 10 inches across. So I went 6 inches to the left of the brake pedal and drilled there. It worked fine.
I also removed the fuse box, as suggested.
Thanks.
