I need information on this vehicle.  I have the wiring info from this site but I was wondering if there was some sort of bypass that had to be performed. Also if there is any tips that you guys(or gals) might know.  Thanks in advance.   BrianH

brianh,

No bypass!

I've seen some manuals say the parking light wire is Vt/Wh, POS in the left kick, this could be true, but I've always found a BROWN wire, also POS in the left kick. Other than that its pretty straight forward.

  • My notes tell me that some Explorer's have the PATS for the 1997 year.
  • To avoid the dome light delay and dome light time-out use the separate door triggers. In the drivers kick panel find yellow/black for the drivers door, lt. GREEN/ YELLOW for the drivers rear door, and WHITE/ purple for the rear hatch. In the passengers kick panel find gray/red for the passenger front door, and pink/lt. blue for the passengers rear door. All five wires are negative trigger and must be diode isolated together.

Also, the tan / YELLOW tach wire is available inside the car.  It's high up above the driver's left foot, coming in from under the hood and going into the ECM.
