I have installed a Black Widow BW-Z1 in a 1999 Ford Ranger. I set the starter defeat to be normally closed and it starts fine but the defeat never seems to activate. I connected the relay to the main box like the manual says (plus it uses a plug for those wires on both ends so I would think it would be hard to connect it incorrectly). Is there something I could have done wrong? What else could be the problem? Thanks for the help, I didn't see any other posts on this.

it should only be active when the alarm is triggered, going trough its cycle.

I armed the alarm while sitting in my truck. When I put the key in and turned the ignition to on, the alarm went off but I was still able to start it. Is this normal?

Make sure that you have the motor side and switch side on the starter disable relay right. 87a should have the motorside and 30 should be the switch side.

Jeff, hello, #30 and #87a can be switched but #85 and #86 need to be checked. They may be both + or both -.

True , very true. Check to make sure that the coils are different polarities.
