I recently had this alarm installed in 2005 dodge ram.
3 questions:
1) Is my factory sunroof campatible with alarm(autoclose      on arm)
2) had a 508d prox sensor installed today,,what should it indicate as on lcd? currently shows as shock
3) had tonneau cover merc switch installed,,but shows as hood on lcd???
If you know,,,please be specific on 2 and 3 as will fix this myself if possible
TIA

first off ill start by saying i just installed this alarm last week in my 4runner, and i was an installer for 3 or 4 years a few years back. this is a great alarm!

as for your questions... it "shouldnt" show up as any "specific" zone per say. it isnt as if "a merc switch SHOULD show up as zone X".... it should show up as whatever zone input the installer hooked it up to (this alarm has a few different trigger inputs). there isnt a specific input on the alarm for a merc switch or a prox sensor though, let alone an icon on your LCD remote for a mercury switch, or for a prox sensor. the installer must choose an exisiting trigger input on the alarm to hook the prox sensor up to, and apparently he chose to share the input with the shock sensor and probably diode isolated the two. as for the tonneau cover merc switch, the installer had one of two choices. hood pin or door trigger. a bed cover is more closely related to a tail gate or hood pin than it is a door trigger, so the installer probably chose to share with you hood trigger input.

it sounds like all is well. its something youll have to live with. it was installed correctly.

great choice on the alarm! youll love it 791vx Sensor and zones ? -- posted image.

oh yea, i forgot...

as for your sunroof. it is feasible with a window module (or at least it should be). you will have to buy this part separate.you can have it hooked up so that when you arm your alarm the sunroof will close.

also, as another option, the 791 alarm comes with a few extra auxilary outputs which can be programmed as validity so that as long as you hold the button on your remote, the sunroof operates in a certain direction (either open or close) and when you release the button, it stops. you can hook one aux output up to the close button, and one up to the open if youd like. of course, you would need to wire in a relay for each direction

*** in case you are unfamilair, "validity" is an option in the programming mode. there are 3 options you can use to setup the aux outputs on this alarm;

1) pulsed (when you hit the button a short pulse will output from the aux wire)

2) latched (you hit the button once, it sends a signal. hit the button again, it turns the signal off)

3) validity (it sends the signal as long as you press the button).

Yes, but when I raise the hood the merc switch sets off the hood lcd icon,,and there is a trunk lcd icon,,so how do you get the system to flash the trunk icon when that trips?

well, apparently the installer hooked it up to the gray wire (which is your negative hood pinswitch input, zone 1). you would need to unhook it from the gray wire and hook it up to another zone. i believe the blue wire in the primary harness should do the trick. the blue wire requires a (-) input, so verify that the wire you are hooking up to it is indeed a (-). however, if it is hooked up to the hood pin gray wire, then it should be a (-) and you should be fine. just verify before connecting 791vx Sensor and zones ? -- posted image. i believe your trunk should show as zone 4, but i could be wrong.

these are the 6 zones as listed in the install manual.

zone 1) Hood pinswitch

zone 2) multiplexed shock sensor input

zone 3) door trigger

zone 4) optional sensor input - blue wire

zone 5) ignition trigger

zone 6) hood brake trigger - Gray wire

Good luck! let me know if it works
