I have a 2002 GMC 2500hd crew cab pickup. I put on a camper shell and would like to protect the contents of the shell(fiberglass) with a microwave proximity or 508d etc. I want to tie it to my OEM alarm system (the one it came with from the factory). Does anyone know about that alarm module? Seems like you should be able to drive a relay (if necessary) to turn on the shell sensor when the OEM system arms, then tie that sensor output back to one of the other existing input legs to the alarm module. If isolation is an issue a couple diodes should do the trick. The 508 d has the dual sense where the exterior chirp sensor would not need to be used just the main interior one. Does anyone have an alarm module schematic or info that would be helpful for that truck? Also any input on the best sensor for that app. would be welcome.

Use the inner trigger from the sensor to drive a relay to trigger the door sense wire. The sensor will have to be turned on via a relay when the ignition turns OFF so that it doesn't trigger the door ajar light on the dash while driving.

Is the trigger signal 12vdc or low active(provides the ground)-I am talking about the door open input? Where would be the best location to tie into those wires? Any color code info would be greatly appreciated. Also, any input on the best sensor for camper shell interior?

I would just put a pinswitch on the camper door opening, If mounting a pinswitch there would be a problem, then a magnetic reed switch should do the trick, a magnetic switch would also be useful if you have sliding windows on your camper top. 3 magnetic reed switches would be still be much cheaper than a proximity sensor, and wouldnt give any flase alarms. They would only trigger the alarm if someone physically opened the door or window.

Sounds like a plan. I could add the switches into one of the door circuits and no worries about arming, false alarms, relays, temperature issues, etc. I was hoping to avoid the wires but oh well. Thks guys for the help,

On base model trucks the door trigger wires are in the lt. blue plug at the BCM, pins B4 and A5. On 4dr trucks the LR door trigger is lt. blue/black, pin A3, and the RR is lt. GREEN/ black, pin A2. They are in the purple plug at the BCM. Use all wires and diode isolate.The BCM (Body Control Module) is under the driver side dash. It has 6 plugs in it, the purple plug is on the back.
