Ok so hopefully you guys clicked on my thread. Now here is the problem. I put a sound system in my truck JL amps, Kenwood XXV-05V deck (25th anniv special 915), Eclipse subs, center channel speakers that are Alpines running off HU and Infinity Perfect 6.1s in the front and 6.5 Kappas in the back. Alright so I had an alarm system put in (Crime Guard by Omega 850i) and the first time they put it in I never had a problem with the radio or anything. I just had massive problems with the alarm system. They wired the ignition wrong so when you turned the switch to the power only position (turning key back towards you) the truck would stay on. They promised me this was normal, but I knew it wasnt. The truck started itself once after I turned it off the remote start failed alot and the alarm locked itself all kinds of weird crap. So they pulled it all out and put a new one in. The new one has been operating great no problems (remote start failed once thats it, retried 10 seconds later and worked). The truck is a 2004 Dodge Ram 3500 4x4 diesel. Now the key can be turned to the power only position and the truck will not keep running (THE CORRECT WIRING). The problem I am having though is with my sound. When I turn the truck on through the key switch sometimes I get no sound from my speakers. The amps power up, the deck powers up but acts goofy. It does not have sound coming out even if the volume is way up, the dvd spins but will not read or eject, and the remote doesnt work. However this is not a problem all the time. It does do it many times in a row when it gets into this hissy fit. I have noticed that if I let my deck close completely up and sit for a couple of seconds and retry it works fine. I am mainly baffled by the fact that it is only sometimes and everything works, but my deck does not produce any sound and acts a bit funny. I should mention this has NEVER happened on a remote start though. Only through the key switch. The alarm installer says the wiring for theirs is alright. But hey its hard to believe them when I had multiple problems with the first alarm and now this with the second. I would like to remntion this did NOT ever happen with the old alarm system. The alarm installers think this is just a complete coincidence that it started happening after the second was installed. Is there anyway this can be caused by installing the alarm with remote start incorrectly or can I isolate this to something that was a coincidence and my wiring is wrong with my deck. Please let me know because I would like to narrow it down as it is very hard to figure out. What would cause the deck to do this especially only selectively, not a clean voltage from start sometimes.   Remote relay for my deck or something? PLEASE HELP AND SORRY FOR THE LONG POST. Thanks guys!

Alright, I know I am talking to myself, but I figured I would share my thoughts. Since this is only occuring SOMETIMES through the key cylinder I think the unit is getting too much voltage through the head unit and is causing it to shut down into full protection mode. This would explain why it only does this every so often. Remote starting it obviously would cause it to never fail if its getting a good clean voltage. The only thing that baffles me with this theory is that I have stuff running off external amps which also do not output anything. Then again this could just be the fact the XXV-05V is shutting off lots of features including all output of sound no matter internal or external amps. When the unit is powered down (meaning the brain shuts off) and powered back up the sound is played again and everything works beautiful again. Powering down and up of the brain is essentially resetting the brain only without clearing memory. When I reset the unit when the truck is on after the sound failed it does go back to working. This all makes perfect sense to me sense when starting the truck the unit could just be getting too much juice. Please let me know if my theory is correct and possibly right. This is the only thing I can think of that would cause this to be an intermittent problem. If it were something like a fuse or wiring issue I would think it would fail all the time. Since the key cylinder was wired up wrong the first time for the alarm system it could have just not been getting too much juice. It was essentially "safe" with it wired wrong.

This may be the wrong Forum for this, but:
Are the AMPS and other Accessories, that were installed by you or someone, powered by the Ignition Switch & / or the Fuse Box??  Or did someone take the time to Relay Power from the Battery / extra Battery??

I did not finish the deck install as I had to go out of town so I had friend who is really good at installing systems finish it up. I believe it is simply powered by the ignition switch. I think if a relay is put in this might solve the problem. How external and internal amps are not producing any sound is what baffles me.

Hey I was wondering is it normal for the factory immobilizer to be taken out for this truck and also the chip cut out of the key.  This is essentially what they have done.   Oh and we discovered my door triggers arent hooked up!

the immobilizer lie w/in the ECU. pretty impossible(figuretively speaking) to take out or disable.
the installer prolly didnt explain it to you correctly. however, you can cut the rubber key handle and tape it to the key cylinder and thats a way to bypass it, but just hope he doesnt do that.

YEAH THATS WHAT HE DID! I went in and looked at it. What the heck should I do? I know they make it where you dont need to do that. I am pretty pissed these guys have jacked up stuff so bad. I also discovered the door triggers are not hooked up either.
