I recently installed an Prestige Platinum APS-996(a) on a 2004 Chevy Suburban.  For whatever reason the parking lights only blink when I deactivate the alarm.

This seems like the wirdest thing to me any suggestions?

It sounds like you have the wiring connected correctly, if its flashing on disarm.  Not sure about your alarm, but many contain an internal relay for controlling the parking lights.  If your alarm has this relay, you should be able to hear it click.  Try arming and disarming several times and listen for the relay clicking on both arm & disarm.  My guess is you'll hear it on disarm only.  Its the micro-controller in the alarm brain that controls the relay.  Look in you manual and see if there is a setting in the programming to change the options for this function.  Does the manual say it is supposed to flash the lights on arm?  The majority do.
