Last week, my cousin tried to take out my cd player in my 1998 Saturn SC2 and install another, better one. In the process, *something* happened that effected my alarm, my door locks, and my stereo.

First, it seems that my clicker for my alarm/keyless entry is dead. I replaced the battery, and it still doesn't work.

Next, I have to hold down my unlock button for my doors in order to crank the car up... my friend Ashly gets a kick out of this, but it just isn't working for me.

And finally, the radio itself doesn't work.

So I was thinking, maybe it's a blown fuse? I don't even have my fuse box cover... it's at my cousins house. I could really use some professional opinions on this situation.

Thanks!

well...i don't know about the unlock button to crank the car, but it does sound like something with your alarm module regardless,  is it a factory installed one or aftermarket one?  also replaceing the battery in the keyless entry remote and still not working could just be the remote needs to be reprogramed. if it's an after amarket unit see if you can remove the fuses for the alarm/keyless module and see how that works....sounds to me like they fried something with the alarm module but without knowing or seeing it might be a little hard to determine excatly what the problem is

I believe it's a factory alarm system. So basically, my best bet is to take it to a pro and let them deal with it?

Sounds like the unlock button disarms the system and in turn deactivates the starter disable relay in the alarm system allowing you to start the vehicle. The best advice is for you to have the system checked out and see if the installer might have tied the alarm system into the same grounding point as the stereo and when you removed the OEM stereo, this might have loosened something in the alarm system to cause the problems. This is just an assumption though.

Fuse labelled "chime" is the culprit. it's 5amp in the fuse panel on the right side of the console.

had a customer come in one day with the same car with the same problems turned out that somehow he'd managed to fry on of the rear door triggers.  If all else fails try disconnecting them as see what happens.  I know it may seems weird, but then again you are dealing with a gm product.
