2002 honda civic lx

hi all,

I got my girl's civic worked on for tires, balance, and oil change... ever since i have no remote start working. i get the normal one beep when arming it followed by another chirp (2 chirps total) i have been researching and from what other people are saying is the hood pin?? i cant find it, and i dont know much about alarms. I found the valet switch near the feet of the driver. any help or suggestions to why the remote start doesnt work now and how i could fix it please would be great!! the car was serviced in arizona while visiting family and i live in nevada so i cant take it back to who messed it up unfortunatly and circuit city wants a reciept when i bought the alarm 2 yrs ago just to look at it without charging me and i know this is something simple hopefully.

i would first check out that hood pin switch like suggested . it should be along one of the fenders under the hood. where the hood would push down on it when closed. it will have one single wire going to it. no exact wire color could be yellow, black,red what ever the installers choice at the time.

ok so i have found a single wire hanging with a black like fuse on the end of it covered with a black rubber top... this could be it? if so its just dangling in the enging compartment where should i terminate this to? is there any pics on the web you could post that i can see what it looks like?

The hangy down thingy with the black head is probably the hood pin you are looking for , to make sure just grasp it in your hand and try to press down on the black thing. If it can be depressed and then springs back up again ( like a big push button) you have found it. Get a buddy with a clue to reinstall it for you or have any garage guy do it for you.

If you played with the valet switch , make sure its in the on position ( same as when you found it ).

Also , after the hood switch is reinstalled make sure the hood is closed when you test the system for operation.

If the hood pin switch is just dangling there, then that is not your problem with the remote start. It is a problem that it's not connected to the frame for safety reasons, but that is not your remote start problem, there is something else. Make sure that it's not in valet mode for one and next, ensure that if this is a manual vehicle that you are entering ready mode properly.

ok so i found the hood pin switch.. the hangy thing was a fuse for something else. the hood pin is the problem. it is mounted securly but for some reason when i close the hood its not registering that its closed? i push it down with my hand manually and then the remote starter works and that second chirp when arming the car is no longer there. so how do i replace the hood pin or where can i buy a new one?

Try adjusting the Hood PIN Switch first.....Unless it's BROKE...

A 12 Volt Sales / Installation shop will have what you need.....

Otherwise try Radio SNack, Auto Parts, etc.

Just adjust the hood pin up so that the hood actually presses on the plunger. No need to replace it unless it's damaged.
