Hey guys,
this week alone i've used the 457gw twice.. and both times it gave me problems..   the first time was an 05 avalanche and this time was an 03 envoy.   my problem is that it wont go into programming mode when hooked up to the yellow passlock wire..   when i hook it up to RED / white theres no problem whatsoever.. EXCEPT that the security light/passlock light stays on when the car is started by the key. when remote started, the light doesnt show.. and if u start the car by the key then remote start it to take the key out, the light goes out... i dont get it. i've never had this problem with a 555l but i'm stumped.. i got the avalanche comming back next week so i can figure it out but i dont even know where to begin to look...   has anyone run into this problem?

there shouldn't be any connection to the passlock wires with this module.

this is a data module, you dont hook up or hook into the passlock circuit at all..... did you read the install instructions at all?

the 457g is a combo of 555L and 456g. remote start and databus lock control in one unit. we've had the same problem here  (today on an 04 Silverado) and no clue either. even tried a 555L in it's place with same results. had to go back to relay and resistors on another vehicle cause of that issue.

We've been able to use the 457G here with great success. One thing though is to double check the compatibility chart on directechs. Mainly because I've found that the cheap chart in the box doesn't do everything for some of those vehicles. Example, Grand Am's, the unit only bypasses passlock but doesn't do locks or anything else. So make sure your vehicle is on the webiste list. Other than that though it should be a direct connection to the diagnostic plug after everything is said and done.

I'll second Kevin.....
You don't need to connect to the passlock wires at all. It does it all through pin 2 of the OBD connector under the dash. I do find that it helps to have the 457G get it's 12V and ground at the diagnostic plug, and if you want it to do doorlocks, you need to put a diode on the ground, band away from the unit.

i did not know that the passlock wires didnt need to be hooked up.. this is the first times i've used the unit and am still getting used to it.. now i know for next time... I figured it was as if the 555l was in the actual unit and just combined as one, not all databus through the odb

Just curious, but what wires did you end up hooking to the yellow passlock wires?
As far as the comments about it not controlling doorlocks on some vehicles, the vehicle must have doorlocks that operate on the databus. 99% of the time, the tech sheet wires will say you must get the lock wires at the drivers door switch or in each door. That is your clue they are on the databus.
