Viper 160XV on 97 Civic, easy install except for the starter kill option. I hooked it up on the purple starter wire from the relay harness, worked like it was suppossed to when the car was locked (armed). Anyway, when remote start was activated, the car would not crank due to this starter kill. Once removed, everything cranked and ran perfectly. What I need is a how to on hooking up the starter kill and still allowing the remote start to work properly. Thanks.

make sure you're hooking the purple wire up to the starter side of the starter wire and the green wire up to the key side. If you get these backwards it can cause the problem you talking about. One more thing, the orange wire off the 12pin harness make sure you don't have that grounded. I know that may seem stupid, but I have seen that happen on more than one occassion

you have a purple and green wire coming from the 160's relay pack, the green goes to the key side of the starter and the purple goes to the car side of the starter wire.

The orange wire is connected the the orange (-) when armed output from the primary H1 harness from the brain. Ive checked and when the remote start is activated, its no longer at ground. Is there any reason that this starter kill would work right when key cranking and not remote start? I though I hooked the starter wires correctly from the relay, but here is my question on that. If hooked backwards with the starter wires would this isolate the current to only flow one direction?

you don't need to hook the orange (-) wire to anything, the 160 has built in starter kill/anti-grind with the purple and green wires.

Yes it would isolate the current because whats happening is the 160 is disconnecting the green wire from the purple wire ( starter kill/anti-grind enabled ) then it's connecting the purple wire to 12volts. So basically if you have the purple wire hooked up to the key side of your starter wire all it's doing is sending 12volts back into the key cylinder. If you're having trouble figuring out which side of the starter wire is which here's how. Hook the black probe of your meter to ground. Then take the red probe hold it to one side of the starter wire. Turn the key to crank. The side that goes to 12volts when you turn the key is the key side. Green goes to that one and purple goes to the other side. Sorry if this sounds stupid I'm not really good with explaining things without sounding condescending.
