I am trying to install a Viper791xv in my 2004 Ford Escape but the wire listed by DEI, BLACK/ lt. green, as the accessory in the ignition reads 11.5volts with no key in the car and 13.5 with car on and running. It never goes down to zero. I used a digital multimeter to test all the other wires in the ignition harness and checked other sources of wiring color information and they all say BLACK/ lt. green. There are 2 BLACK/ lt. green wires in this loom of wires but neither are the accessory and only the one i had previously talked about goes up to the ignition. Does anyone know what the problem may be?

Also i was wondering if the factory hood pin wire needed to be hooked up using a relay or not because right now i have it hooked straight up and on the remote when the hood is closed the remote display the hood as open and vice versa.

I believe that BLACK/ lt. green wire you are testing is the negative trigger parking light wire. The acc. wire you want should be the other BLACK/ lt. green wire.

Can't comment on the hood pin wire. I've never used it in that vehicle.

ive tested both wires and neither read accessory. could there be a problem with the key cylinder thats not turning the power off to the accessory wire?

nope...your battery would have died by now if the acc. wire was staying powered with the key off

well nothing in the car gets power, the radio doesnt turn on or anything unless the key is in and turn and thats when the voltage jumps up to 13.5 but the wire never goes down below 10 volts. the battery wouldnt neccessarily die if nothing was using the power.

Do you have the steering shroud off yet? If not, take it off you will have to take it off for the remote start anyway. Then you can see the actual ignition harness plug and just tag the BLACK/ green wire.

And yes the OEM hoodpin wire isn't gonna be worth your while just install your own pin and be done with it.
