Hey everyone,

2005 Dodge Ram 1500 quad cab. I have just installed a DEI 530t for the 1 touch feature. No alarm connections. I wired a 12 volt constant to the switched power wire on the factory window switch. It all works correctly except the tiny lights on each window switch remain lit all the time.

I don't want to drain down the battery but would like to be able to operate windows any time without the key.

Second option would be going to a relay setup so they work till doors open...

Any thoughts?

Thanks, Greg

Don't think you should have a problem with the light kill your battery.  Think it would take them months if not years to drop a battery to a point where it wouldn't start.

Instead of wiring the factory switch constant, leave it wired stock and try using this diagram:

Thanks Guys, I don't think it'll kill the batt either.

No other ideas? The relay trick posted is only till doors open, not bad if it were my only choice...

Thanks, Greg

Is there a way to wire the alarm trigger wire to power to accomplish this?

Still no signs of draining my battery the way it is.....

I think you cannot accomplish what you want. If I recall, Chyrlser products switch lights are on anytime the car is in the run/on or started (I.E. powering the windows, etc.. have juice).  So by allowing power to the windows all the time you also power the lights on the window switches.

Most cars only activate these lights when the lights are on VIA the light switch. Unless you bypass that feature you are stuck, however I think cntrylvr79 is right, it would take weeks or more for this to kill the battery.

I could be mistaken though.
