I used to do installation work in the early 90’s so I am a bit behind the times at best, I have done a few remote starts but nothing interacting with a factory alarm setup so I want to make sure I seem to be on the rite page before I tear into it.
The car is my wife’s 1999.5 Jetta 5 speed with power doors and windows. I plan a remote start add on DEI 561R.
So as I see it I should be able to tap the unlock to disarm the factory system, I should not have problems starting the car with the factory alarm armed since it’s a 99 and I can start it with the key when armed. The alarm should rearm with the lock but as for the clutch pedal issue I wan to make sure it still functions as it did from the factory and works with the cruse control.
As it is I want to use a magnetic reed switch on the gear shifter to allow it to only start in neutral using the NSS on the remote starter. I can’s seem to think of a source for the pedal bypass that will only work when using the alarm, I know to use a relay to break the connection or make the connection as necessary but is there any other way than using the second channel output to do this? Basically how do I show the pedal being depressed when it is being remote started and only then.
Sorry if this is something that has been beat to death I did search.
Thanks for any help

The clutch bypass wire is RED / BLACK and is a (+) trigger. What you need to do is use the GROUND WHEN RUNNING or STATUS OUTPUT wire to trigger a relay. This wire will only output a (-) trigger when remote started.

You should also get yourself a 668M to do the standard properly...... Reed switches are too finicky. The 668M makes you put it into ready mode.

Ready mode= car in neutral, running, parkbrake on.... exit vehicle with it running, shutting off from ourside of the car. That way, it was running, parkbrake on, and vehicle exited, therefore, it is in neutral, and is safe to start.
The only really fun part that you get to look forward to is going into each door for door pins. Contrary to popular belief, this is the only way to do it..... the door trigger at the CCM that everyone like to use only covers the driver's door.....

I have been on google and here looking and have not seen where to get a 668.  The finicky reed switch seems like a simple way to go to me, do you feel that it's not safe or just too much chnace to have to be screwing with it?  I think I would like to give it a shot and if it does not work I can add in the 668M.

Safety is the main concern, I would hate to have my wife start her car and run over my kids!
