99 Blazer starter problems

I'm installing a remote starter on a 99 Blazer.  The remote starter will crank the engine,  but it will not stay running.  The blazer does not appear to have a passlock, as the key I used to start it was all metal, no transponder.

Any suggestions?

It is all metal but that key actually has a resistance value that has been coded to the BCM. It most likely uses the Passlock 2 system which will do just that... prevent you from starting the veicle without the proper key. You'll need to use a bypass module to remotely start it.

It does have PASSLock II. Note the "SECURITY" light when you start it up.
Audiovox AS-GM4, DEI 555L/556L.

I wish it was that easy.  The key I am using I had made at the locksmith, it is an ILCO key, no transponder..  It was never programmed into the truck.   When I place the key in the ignition, and try to remote start it , it still does not start.  Placing the key in the ignition would activate the passlock, and the truck should start, correct?

The system is a passlock2 and you need to bypass it. It doesn't need a chip in the key as it sees a resistance generated in the key cylinder itself. There's no question about it, you need a bypass!!!!!!!

OK -  next question..  What color are the passlock wires?  I don't have them listed on any wiring diagrams...  Thanks..

The wires will be listed in the bypass module instructions. Really, I thought it always needed the right key... If it's in the cylinder then it's completely useless. Atleast it seems like it, because if the cylinder was forced then it would act the same way as with the key.
Either way, a bypass module is the way to go.

YELLOW is the DATA wire
ORANGE / BLACK is the GROUND
Depending on the module that your using, that is all you need to tap into. If you using a GMBP you can use the DATA wire at the diagnostics plug and you won't even have to tap into the Passlock wires at all.
