there are a lot of 2-way alarms that claim 3000 ft. for their range, Do they even come close? I got my eye on the Crimestopper CS2016FM, but is crimestopper a good brand?
Pioneer Premier TS-w3004spl, Bass Slammer vented, Kenwood KDC MP-4028, and a KAC-9152d.

A good rule of thumb is to cut any published range in half. If you are in the middle of Kansas in a flat field with no electrical interference you will get 3000 feet. If you are around buildings, power lines, radio towers, etc. your range will be about half.

Or another rule of thumb is to divide 3000 feet by the amount of dollar you pay for the unit. That figure in percentage is the probability that it will work at the 3000 feet range.3000 ft. 2-way ranges -- posted image.
Be careful whose advice you buy, but be patient with those who supply it.3000 ft. 2-way ranges -- posted image.

My shop sells the crimestopper 2016fm. We put 1 in my buds truck and he works for the power co. He works all the way at the top of the building and is able to start his truck and flash back paging works when no others will work. All the other guys are coming in for the crimestopper 2016fm. We are taking out the other brands and replacing them with the 2016 by crimestopper.
If working in Mid American power co where they make power doesnt mess with it. I think its a good product

Got  the idea, but we might need to swap around the math a bit-   3000 ft. 2-way ranges -- posted image.

When it comes right down to it, every shop will have it's own personal favorite. Don't just look at range as being your number 1 reason to buy, because your going to fall short on some other aspect of the purchase like reliability, extra features, programmable options, warranty, etc.....
