I've never installed a remote starter w/o keyless entry which obviously requires the 457, however i have a customer who only wants remote start, my question is will there be any issues with factory security besides the pk2 to contend with if i dont use a 457g?

just do the passlock II interface. If it has a factory alarm it will honk ohrn once when it goes to start. Factory alarm thinks someone is stealing it then it gets everything it needs so it shuts down thinking someone is in it with key starting it.

To test lock door after rolling down driver window. Walk away for a few minutes. Then reach in and open door from inside. If horn goes off then it has a factory alarm. So just warn then it will honk horn when starting cause it is shutting down factory alarm.

Also sometimes without doing the remote locks on the aftermarket unit, the factory remote keyless entry will not work while the car is running off the aftermarket remote start. The customer may have to shut the remote start down to use the factory keyless. Some vechicles, depending on vechicle programming, is set up to shut down the factory keyless entry system when the ignition is powered up.

GM factory remotes never shut down when the vehicle is on. Nothing to worry about here.
If you hook up the disarm wire from the remote start to the disarm wire in the drivers door the horn won't honk when remote starting.

Personally, if it has the factory alarm the customer doesn't have the option of not getting doorlocks. The module that does doorlocks and passlock cost me $5 more than the module that just does Passlock. That $5 is not worth the time it takes to go into the door.
