I am installing a add-on remote start, to an existing Viper security system, on a 2002 nissan sentra.  It is a manual transmission but it has a neutral safety switch, which shows 5v when in any other gear but neutral and is grounded when in neutral. My add-on R/S system has a (-) neutral safey switch input that needs to see ground in order to work.

My question is, can i connect those wires directly togeth or do i need to use a relay in someway? Also, if i need to use a relay how would i go about hooking that up?

Thanks

If you can, you might want to do a bench test first and make sure that the R/S disengages when it sees 5V applied-
If it normally expects a 12V swing on the input from open/closed to ground, there may be a chance 5V could be seen as a low. If you can, try even going to 4V or lower to see where the threshold is, to make sure you have enough of a safety margin.

I did a manual Altima recently. The neutral wire works fine on the BLACK/ white neutral safety input of the 791xv.
To confirm:
After its remote started, and without putting the key in try pushing in the clutch and put the car in gear. As soon as you enter a gear the car should shut off.
