I'm hoping someone can help me here.  I have an 01' Chevrolet Cavalier with an aftermarket keyless entry / alarm system.  All I can find is a bank of relays with two black plastic boxes zip tied to them.  All the boxes say is "DEI Model: 555L' and the other box says "Valet Model: 551R".  From what I've been able to find out, this is a remote start system but, I don't have remote start, just and alarm and keyless entry.  I'm not sure what component does what.  Anyhow, if the alarm is set, it will activate for no reason a couple of times a day.  I disconnect the battery a few times for a few minutes and this didn't help.  I also replaced a burned out 30A fuse in the birds nest wiring for the DEI unit.  This did absoulutely nothing.

At this point, I would like advice/instruction/diagrams on how to deactive the alarm system and keep the keyless entry system w/FOB.  If this can't be done, I'd like to eliminate/deactive the alarm and keyless entry and return to OEM - no alarm and plain power locks, no/FOB.

most units have a valet switch, you turn the key to the run position and press the valet switch for 5 seconds or until you hear the siren chirp. This puts it in valet mode where the alarm is off but the keyless entry stil works.

With that unit, to put it into valet mode turn the key on then off push the valet button once.  The led should light solid.  No more alarm going off.

The 551 R is just a remote starter and keyless entry, so the alarm going off is either another module under the dash you didn't see, but my guess is the hack job is the problem. how many remotes do you have for the vehicle? did you just get this car? The 555l boxes are relays; two in one case. is it the factory horn sounding or an alarm siren under the hood? answer these questions and we can better help you.

There is two remotes.  I have used both remotes to arm and disarm the car and the problem continues.  No, I purchased this car in 2002 from a dealer, and I called the dealer and he said that this model did not come with an alarm/keyless entry system.  You hear the factory horn when you arm the system and you hear the factory horn when the alarm goes off.

prdjr165 and cntrylvr79 - I have a two wire program switch (no programming instructions) but no valet switch that I can see.
