I have just installed a viper 771xv in a 01 Acura Integra LS. I have also installed the passkey bypass(556uw) The car starts and runs fine with the key. The first thing I did after starting the car was perform the "learn tach" proceedure. The led confirmed that the signal was "learned" just like it said it would in the book, so I know that the control unit has power, and the relay satellite ignition switch interface wires are connected right (or the car would not start even with the key I'm assuming. And by the way, all my accessories work as well. I just tapped into the acc. and ignition wire without cutting it in half. Was I supposed to sever the stock connection and solely rely on the relay, or is the starter wire the only wire I sever?) My problem was presented when I tried to use the remote. No mater what button I pressed, I would get an "out of range" page back. I checked to see if the xhf2 transceiver was hooked up, and indeed it was.  Is there any reason you could think of why the "brain" wouldn't get any signal from the remote? Could I have a bad wire (to the xhf2) and if so could I get another one with out buying the whole package? Also, I haven't installed the door lock relay yet (ran out of time) This could'nt be the cause, could it?

Try a remote learn on page 36 of the installer manual. The remote control is suppose to be learned to the CPU, but try it out and see if this will solve your problem.

That is a common problem with dei 2 way remotes the out of range noise of death. I was explained by kevin tech at dei that the reason it happens is because the manufacturing process. they use pool soldering method that solders all the parts on the board and the degree of temp in the pool has to be acurate or something does not get a good solder. i have seen this my self i own 2 viper 791 alarms and have had to resolder the antenna connection and the battery connection on the remote. you do this by just heating up the solder point then letting it cool. i have done this and a big improvement with range batt life etc. wether this is your problem or not it is a common thing that happens to there remotes. as per Kevin Dei Master Tech.

Man I would hate to install a top of the line DEI 2 way alarm and remote start and THEN have to resolder connections inside my 100 dollar remote. If transmitter reprogram doesn't work, swap the remote out. I have had tons of these take a dump or even bad out of the box, and its not my job to resolder $h!t inside the remote. That's what we get for outsourcing to Taiwan....

How do you open the remote to resolder?  I don't want to break anything.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. It's sad to think that they couldn't get a solder connection right after charging 500 bucks for the alarm, not that I paid anywhere near that.  No signal from remote -- posted image.  Oh well, guess they can't get everything right with the volume they do.  Thanks again!
