I would like to install a Viper on a '96 Honda Accord with a factory alarm.  I just put a 560 in a '93 Camry (my first install) and I considered that job sorta tough but I think the second time should be easier now that I have a better understanding about how the alarm works. My question is, will I need to remove the factory alarm in the Honda and put in a 560 or will the 160 work with the factory alarm? The factory alarm has no range and I would like to increse that to the Viper. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

You should be able to disarm/arm the factory alarm system when you disarm/arm the viper. The Viper has arm/disarm outputs that are meant to trigger the factory alarms. It is just 1 (or 2 in some cases) wires that are hooked up to your car which will accomplish this.

So I guess I would need the Viper 560 not the 160?

the 160 is r/s and keyless no security it will use the factory system and it can trigger it on and off.
the 560 can disarm the factory system and use its own alarm with shock sensor. thr 560 has r/s keyless and security. it is really a 791 but as a one way system.

you can use the viper remote with the better range and it will trigger the factory alarm. so you can use the 160
