2003 jeep wrangler door trigger

Hey guys, I need the acurate info on the dome light input or door trigger on this jeep. my info says yellow wire(-) at light switch. but there is no yellow at light switch! the closest thing is a tan wire.the two wires at the door triggers are tan and yellow/black. any way i need the negative input for the alarm.thanks in advance for the help. oh, also I am installing a proximity sensor in this jeep. it does not have a center console, it is an auto trans, with a cupholder by the shifter. any good ideas where to mount this?jmacf14

I've always just used the underdash courtesy light as a door trigger----yellow wire, I believe. Even if yours has no courtesy light, there should be an unused plug there somewhere; probbly taped to the ignition harness. On that Wrangler, just forward of the gearshift, there's a small plastic "dish" where you can place coins and gum and stuff, right? That little dish should just pry up and pop right off. Put your sensor in there, and you'll be easily able to re-adjust the sensor. On the few proximity sensors I've installed, I found that it takes a lot of fooling around to get it right, so you want it in a spot that's easily accessed. Consider carrying the tools necessary to pry up the dish, and turn the sensor's adjuster screws, in the car with you----that way, if it turns out you'd made it too sensitive, you can adjust it right there. Also, if you mount the sensor with velcro, you'll be able to turn it backwards or sideways if necessary.

just an update, I could not find a central input for the dome/door trigger. so I just tapped into the tan wire on each door pin giving me the neg input.so at least they activate the alarm when opened. no dome supervision though.i can live with that though. thanks again for all of the input. jmacf14
