Headlight wiring, Chevy Lumina

In my Chevy Lumina, what is the easiest way to access the headlamp wiring? I want to hook it up with my backup lights on the aux channel of an alarm. I know it is at the switch on the dash, but i don't know how to get to it. Are there any other access points? Thanks for the help! I am new at this but trying to learn!

If you cannot figure out how to get behind the headlight switch to determine the wires, your best bet would be to run wiring from front to back in the vehicle directly to the wires that are supplying the headlights and reverse lights. I would spend a little more time figuring out how to remove/reinstall your headlight switch. Keep in mind that headlights draw a lot of power, you will need relays and I would recommend setting your aux output to timed. This way if you forget that you activated your aux channel you do not go out to a dead car.

Headlight wire on a GM should be yellow. Go under the dash, and look up, while manipulating the high/low beam switch. Pulling on the turn signal really just actuates a relay rod......the actual electrical switch is mounted to the steering column, somewhere above the brake pedal. It's likely you can find easy access to the yellow headlight wire there. Also, there are two more wires coming out-----high and low beams, of course. If you want your alarm to ALWAYS activate a particular beam, regardless of where you left the switch, you might use one of those wires. If the car has a column shifter, which I believe all Luminas do, the backup lamp switch is also attached to the column----look for a light green wire.
