I just purchase the prestige aps 996a I install it today on my 96 acura integra and the remote start feature is not working. I double check all of my wires and go over the whole maual over and over again but the remote start is not working. when I try to engage the remote start all I see on my remote is that its make some melody sound and the unit under the dash just make some clicking sound thats it for like a few sec thats it is it possible I have a defective unit? any help is appreciated

Anything is possible, but a defective unit is somewhat rare. Let's try to work this out one step at a time. Does anything light up on the dash at all when you engage the remote start? How many times do the parking lights flash?

Have you progrmmed the tach ?? If that is ok then check the hood pin switch sometimes I have gotten fooled with these because of the hood clearances are more in certain spots under the hood.Try pushing down the switch and activate the remote start.

I hook the hook pin I even disconnected it to be on the safe side, and I discounnect the brake switch wire too,and when I try to activate the alarm the lights blink 7 times. does that mean anything and for for program tach is it necessary to program it.

I have install a lot of remote start in the pass and from my experience its has a series of two click before it crank the engine just u put the key in ant turn it

in this case its seem like something is not letting the system to activate the remote start

Yes it is .

When you program the tach make sure that the parking lights are flashing before you let go of the button. If the lights don't flash when you program the tach, the unit has not learned the tach rate.
