I have a 1999 Mercury Sable with a Polar PS 3015 starter and since changing my car battery I cant get my car to start with the remote. I took it to a mechanic and he suggested that the factory theft system isn't engaging the fuel pump since the car only turns over and wont start. Any suggestions?

could be, if its the anti theft then the theft light on the dash should be flashing when you are attempting to start the vehicle via remote start. Could also be that the tach programming was lost in which case it will have to be reprogramed. Check the theft light thing and let me know

If you used a keyless bypass for the PATS system, you may have to reprogram the module. What module did you use ?

The theft light does flash and I'm am not too sure what bypass is installed, how do I find this out?

Also I did reprogram the tach settings still nothing, turns over and does not start with remote but car starts fine with key normally.

Take the bottom of the dash off, I believe its 2, 8mm bolts and the cover will come off. Remote start and bypass are probably in there. model numbers should be on them..May be on the reciept if you have one.

I looked and the remote system looks to be beside the battery and I looked at my reciept and it has the remote starter, alarm interface and relay/harness but no model numbers. What do you suggest I can do to find the info you may need?

Do as Xtremej recommends, I highly doubt that the brain of the system was installed under the hood. All of the systems I have installed specifically say to NOT put the system under the hood where it could be exposed to the elements. It is more than likely under the dash in the passenger compartment. Take a look in there and get back to us with the make/model of the bypass.

if the theft light is flashing then it sound like its the pats system...did you get any additional keys made lately?

i would lean towards the program module being the problem. put a programmed key in the ignition and try remote starting. if it starts with the key in the ignition (in the off position) then you have a problem with the module. if that is the case i would look for the module and make sure it is getting power and ground where applicable and look for a blown fuse on the wires going to the module. wouldn't be a bad idea to check all the fuses under the dash going to the alarm as well just in case a small fuse got a voltage spike during the battery exchange.

*btw, if you have a large headed key then you for sure had to have the PATS bypass module.*
