has any one had the fail safe trip for 24 hrs onthe can-bus? I was install ing the viper 791 and while I was programing the 556u-w as the 3rd key it triped the can-bus. can not do anything with the car for 24hrs. found that the chip wasn't good from the factory. I need to get this car finished soon, anyone have any ideas around the can-bus? The dealer wasn't any help, they just said to wait for the car to wake up. any info would be great?

I guess removing the battery cables have no affect on the vehicle's computer ?

Never heard of a 24 hour shut down......Customers wouldn't go for that...

Did you try a Valid Key & Lock & Unlock with Factory Remote?

sounds like somthing else....does the radio come on with the ign?..this is a canbus controlled radio, if it comes on then the bus system is working.

If you have a non valid transponder it will take 60 seconds before you can try a valid key to start.

I had a similar problem on a grand cherokee, turned out I'm dumb :p

the remote start triggered the can-bus because of the chip being bad.if you try to start the car 2 times and it shuts down after 2 sec. then the system shuts down for 24hrs. if the system is tryed agian be for the 24hrs are up the timer starts over from that point. While this is going on all power will read correct starter, second starter, 12v con. and 12v acc.ect, But starter will not engage even with the factory keys. I waited 24hrs, started the car then reprogramed the new chip as the3rd key and everythings working great. Best of luck to anyone who gets the joy of working on one of these. or the magnum and 300

Hmmm, I did a 300M with a 791 using the 556u box and tripped the imobilizer (funny how it doesnt work when its not plugged in, DOH) and anyways, I just left it sit for like 5 minutes and had no problems finishing it off. I wonder if I tripped something different than you or what?
