I have this model prestige installed on my 2000 intrepid. Is there any easy way to prgrom this alarm. I am trying to get passive arming so that it arms itself but i cant seem to get to that stage. When i push the valet button and get into programming. the horm will beep once, then twice, then once, then twice then it will start beeping twice from there. How do i know when i am at the particular step which i believe is #6 or 7 i cant say exactly because the book is in the car. Any help with the programming would be great. I have read and heard that programming can be a pain in the butt.

Thanks

Programming options on any manufacturer's system requires a thorough reading and re-reading of the manual. Specifics are very important when trying to change settings via a programming menu. For example, most of the people I have to explain DEI menus to, they fail to realize that you must push and hold the button once more to be on the feature you want. If you want feature 5, you must push the button 6 times, holding it in on the sixth press. Pay close attention to the details of the manual and programming should be simple.

Just follow the instructions on the cover of the installation manual. For the active arming press the valet button 4 times and press the lock button on the transmitter to change from active arming to passive arming

The programming steps for the alarm features are confusing, and so is the manual. But it is accurate if you read it closely enough.
1. Key on.
2. Valet switch 3X. (one short chirp)
3. Key off. (loud chirp)
4. Key on..............this is the confusing part.......
When you turn the key on, you will hear one chirp........this is because you are in setting #1 of the first feature........ which is the door-lock output.
5. Press the valet switch once........ you will hear two chirps........ this is because you are in setting #2 of the second feature.........
Keep on going like that........ each time you push the valet switch, you advance through each feature........
the chirps tell you what SETTING you are at........for example, single pulse locks? 3.5 second locks? double-pulse unlock?
but, you MUST know in your head WHICH FEATURE you are in.......there is no way to know other than keeping track as you go along.
6. When you get to the "passive arming" feature, press the Lock button on the remote, until it changes to the setting you want.
7. Turn ignition off. (loud chirp)
IMPORTANT NOTE:
There are separate setting for active/passive arming...... and active/passive locks.
If you want the system to arm AND lock all by itself, proram BOTH the arming and locks to passive.......
On the other hand, if you go for active locks, passive arming, at least you won't lock yourself out of the car when you forget the keys inside.

tee17,
No, on Audiovox product there is no "reset" method.
The only way to do it is to go through each feature and make sure it is set where it is supposed to be.
