Hi Im having a proplem with my alarm, it on a 2001 ford ranger and the alarm is a galaxy 5000rs-2w . when i set it sometimes when i go to open it using the remote it only beeps and the alarm disarms but it  will not unlock the doors. if i use the remote start and start the truck  then using the remote it will unlock  the doors. do any of you know what would cause this. i had a micro start2003 before  this alarm and it did the same thing. i have asked the installer about this and thay say it is wired right . thanks for the help.

Your Installer missed a step. The 2001 Ranger's Generic Electronic Module (GEM) goes to sleep after a certain amount of time and needs to be woken up in order for the door unlock to function. This diagram shows how to accomplish this properly. When there is energy applied to the ignition in the vehicle, the GEM wakes up, this is why the unlock works fine after remote start. You can follow the diagram listed at the link provide, OR there is a cheat that will also work. The Scytek systems use a negative ribbon cable to activate the external relays. You could just tap the factory alarm disarm wire from the system into the negative wire that activates the ignition circuit relay in the truck, this will 'pulse' the ignition circuit and wake up the GEM as well. You will have to set the Scytek to double pulse unlock. Or, just never lock the truck with the door open and the GEM will never go to sleep.

would you have a color code for the wires in the diagram. i think the cheat would be the easy way to go,  so your saying i should tap the violet / white  wire from the alarm factory disarm output to the external ignition  - of the relay.  and set it to double pulse, will this effect any of the other alarm settings. also I forgot to ask this the first time, my alarm has a way to program it to disarm when the trunk is opened, but it only will disarm if i use the remote to arm it not when it passive arms, is this normal.

thanks

2001 Ranger.
Yes the PURPLE / white on the 5000 is the wire I am referring to. However in looking at the 5000rs2w manual it is not showing an external relay pack, if it does not have an external relay pack that is triggered by negatives, the 'cheat' will not work.
As far as the disarm with trunk, first...the Ranger does not have a trunk ;), and second, yes it should disarm regardless if the system passively armed or was actively armed.

ok let explain about the trunk, my truck has a power open tool box so im using remote to open it sorry about that. and the only exturnal relay it has is i guess its the start relay it has an orange wire from the alarm to 86 on the relay and 87a goes to the red / lt blue to the starter, 30 goes to the yellow on the wiring harness 30 and 85 are tied together  with a diode going across 86 and 85 on the relay. did this make any sense.  so im guessing this is not the relay you were talking about. if not im going to have to do it like the diagram you sent.

The relay you are talking about is your starter kill circuit, leave that one alone. From reading the manual, the remote start relays are internal, so there are no negative triggers that the 'cheat' will work with. You will have to follow the diagram to wake up the GEM.
Hope this helps
