hi guys im attempting to install an alarm into a honda odyssey.

ive installed 3 systems before and my last 2 attempts were horrible. The toyota camry and dahatsu sirion has totally put me off installing alarms.

Im actually in australia  and our honda odysseys come with this remote

I want to know whats the best way of installing an alarm into this car with the factory keyless entry.

the keyless entry does nothing but lock and unlock the doors. it doesnt flash lights or sound the horn.

i want to be able to flash lights and sound the horns.

should i install a alarm upgrade kit?

or should i install a new alarm? if so do i need to disable this factory keyless entry unit?

thanks any help will be appriciated!

You can actuall go either way.  Use an upgrade system to retain the use of the factory transmitters, or you can go with a system with it's own remotes.  The factory keyless does not have to be bypassed or anything.  The advantage of going with a system with it's own remotes, is they tend to have much better range than the factory remotes.  Also they tend to have more aux channels than an upgrade system.  Either system can flash the parkinglights and should include a siren that will chirp on arm or disarm.
