Since this has 2 wires,a gray and a black.Since my clifford has only a one wire hoodswitch input,will the black wire go to metal (ground) and the gray wire to the clifford hoodswitch input which is also(-)?Upon recommendations from the great people on this site i opted for the reed switch over the pin switch..

yes black ground, gray trigger
