I finished installing my full audio system last night, I didn't touch my viper alarm at all, remote start and everything has been working beautifully since I first installed it 2 months ago, until last night...I thought someone broke into my car cause my remote alerted me late at night that my door and trunk was open.  i quickly ran out and no one had touched my car... i thought nothing of it, maybe someone with a loud sub drove by and set it off..

well today, all day, it has been randomly going off by itself, it seems like it triggers my factory alarm which i've never ever heard go off, my horn honks (my viper never makes my horn honk when it was working fine before), and it doesnt seem to alert my remote when its going off, it's probably gone off 8 times so far today sitting undisturbed, when i lock it it tells me door and trunk is open, but i can verify they are shut, all my door triggers still work like they should, i opened and shut all my doors, trunk, hood, and it still goes off by itself now, i'd say about every 45 minutes or hour, if i arm the car and open with a key it sets off alarm so they triggers arent bad, what the heck is up???

another thing i've noticed that changed was that in the past when i hold down aux button for 2 seconds, it would pop my trunk automatically, now all of a sudden i have to hold the aux button for 2 seconds, then the number 2 flashes on my remote and i have to continue holding the aux button for another 2-3 seconds to make the trunk pop, its like i have to hold it for 5 seconds, did something reprogram it self? my alarm is very hidden behind my riveted stereo, and my valet button is hidden inside my dash, i don't think the bass from my subwoofer damaged or changed something in the viper system, what could be wrong? how do i fix this

Ok, first off never install equipment where it cant be serviced, thats gonna bite you in the ass almost everytime. Now are you sure you dont have a fault door pin. Thats kinda what it sounds like, same with the trunk, although for them to happen at the same time is very strange. Could be an issue with that section on the brain as well. Its kinda hard to say. I would verify that it isnt a bad pin by disconecting the door and trunk pin inputs at the brain, that way if its a problem with the pins or the wiring to the pins the alarm wont go off and you can start to diagnose it from there. If it still goes off then its a brain problem and you will have to get it replaced under warrenty.

you know what guys, i forgot to mention one small miniscule other thing i did that day that i seemed to have overlooked. the stereo system was the big project, it took me 5 minutes to swap out my speedometer cluster, i have a 2001, i installed a 2000 cluster, everything worked, except the speedo and odomometer wasnt reading, well i didnt think that could be causing this problem, but i was wrong, i put my old cluster back in and my alarm started working fine, i guess the pins in one of the harness was different randomly triggering my stock alarm, then setting off my viper, and i'm sure there are wires that lead from the door and trunk because there are lights on my cluster that would tell me if they were opened...

anyhow, i took both clusters out, removed the gauges from the electrical boards, swapped gauges and electricals keeping the 2000 gauges with my 2001 electronics and odo, and now it works perfect, no more problem and my guages all read right now, WHEW, problem solved and very happy, now to get rid of all the rattling panels in my car...oh boy
