Hi, Can anyone tell me where to connect the door lock wires on my 1996 Mondeo (UK). i have a clifford 100 everything else is working ok. I found this page on this site with the wiring points https://www.the12volt.com/installbay/detail.asp?info=alarm&year=1996-97&make=Ford&model=Contour&ID=17753&type=Alarm But when i connect the wires to the described locations it blows a fuse. it seems that the wires describes are negitive while not in use and positive when locking and unlocking so when the alarm tries to lock or unlock it just pops the alarm fuse.

Many Thanks

Rich

ARE you using relays? These wires draw nearly 1 amp of current when triggered.  Wire 2 for POS(+) using the negative trigger from your alarm. fuse @ 3 amps.

Hi and thamks for the response.

Yes i am using 2 relays,  1 for lock and 1 for unlock. the alarm was previously installed in my Ford Escort so just kept the relays on. The reason it's blowing the fuse is because the wires tht i piggy-backed onto is live (+) when locking or unlockin BUT negitive (-) when not in use.

It was a "L" reg orion, not escort sorry. im quite sure (but not positive) that the orion was a positive door lock.

The reason i know the wires which i connected the alarm wires on the Mondeo to are negitive when not in use and positive when locking/unlocking is because i had a multimeter onto the wires. I guess im not connecting onto the correct wires at the car side.

Sorry about that, this was a screw up on my part. I typed Escort, instead of Contour.... POS door locks for sure though.

So my Mondeo/Contour is Positive door locks? what wires sould i connect the cliffords lock/unlock wires to? The door locking module is located just under the clocks at the right hand side (Im in the uk, RHD) there's 2 connectors on there. ive tried probing all the wires to see what ones are positive on lock/unlock but all of them that are seem to be negitive if they are not locking or unlocking.

this is really starting to get to me as the factory alarm and clifford alarm dont like eachother and i have to enable valet mode before  unlocking the doors with the remote on the key.

Thanks for your help

Rich
