I have installed this alarm/remote start on a 05 Mercury Mariner with the Peripheral PTK3 bypass. The alarm works great but i get nothing from the remote start. When you press the start key twice nothing happens. The ground when running wire connected to the PTK3 does nothing, and the parking lights do not flash to indicate the hood pin or tach not learned. I have checked the on/off switch for the RS and it is working properly. Any suggestions on where to go form here or is it time to junk it and buy a new RS? Thanks in advance.
Good Luck!

Make sure the tach is programed. If you can't get a confirmation from the unit that the tach is learned then you have the wrong tach wire.

Where did you get the tach signal from?

You can get the tach signal from one of the injectors any wire that is not RED or WHITE/ RED.

ieSpell rocks.

If you try to remote start it the parking lights will flash 7 times if the tach is wrong. They don't flash at all when I try. There is absolutely no response from the unit when the button is hit, like the remote and brain aren't communicating.
Good Luck!

Try grounding the blue/black remote-start activation input.....that'll rule out any problems with the remote or antenna.
Also, how have you checked the on/off switch? A visual inspection, or an electrical test?
It would be best to simply test, DIRECTLY at the brain, the hoodpin, brake wire, and the small BLACK/ white wire coming from the control switch.

I got out the trusty dmm and checked the switch. I'll have to try the testing that wire. I didn't figure it was any of the hood pin, brake or anything else because it does not flash the parking lights at all. Thanks for your help.
Good Luck!

Actually, on Audiovox product, that's exactly what will happen....
If the hood is raised, the brake pressed, or the control switch off, there will be ZERO response of any kind if you attempt to remote start.
Also, are you using tach or voltage sense? If you're using voltage sense, the remote starter will not operate if the ignition is on.............so, if you're set for voltage sense, verify that the thick blue ignition wire is OFF when the car is off.........if it's wired to constant by mistake, the remote starter isn't going to activate.

I'll check the hood pin again and the brake. I couldn't get any response from the a ground pulse on the blue/black. I appreciate all the help.
Good Luck!
