I just installed a 4560 Ultrastart unit in my 97' F350 Ford pickup. I can not get it to tach learn. I even went so far as to pull th instrument cluster out and get to the tach wire....still nothing. I keep getting 7 flashed on my parking lights noting that NO TACH SIGNAL WAS REC'D!!

Everything else seems to work.

I tied into the WHITE/ pink wire near the PCM by the drivers left foot.

Thanx Tom

do the parking lights turn ON when going into "learn" mode (when you swist the key to ign.) before ytou start?

ALSO...where did you get your tach signal? That same color wire is behind the cluster.

Yes, the parking lights come on. I tapped into the tach wire (wht/pnk) at the harness to the left of the brake pedal. I get the diagnostic code of 7 flashes from my parking lights.

did you meter that wire to make sure it is the tach, also what kind of conection are you using. if not striping wire back make sure the connection is good.

Thank god... for Kartuneman. thanx for the help on the landline!

There are two identical wht/pnk wires running thru the same harness. One carried only mV while the other carried 5+Vdc. The system learned tach and now its cleanup time.

Thanx again Gary for your time.

Tom

It's always the tachs that I have a difficult time finding too. Some can be a pain to locate.
