hey, just a question here for my 89 jeep yj, i have wired in a car alarm/remote start, and i was just having a little problem with the remote start and am looking for a little help if someone could.  wen i hit the button on the remote it take a second but it does turn the engine over , it attemps three times but it will not not let the engine run, i know i missed an wire on the relay but in the book it went to the "star Motor" and i was unsure so i just left it alone.  now i thought it might be the alternator wire, because i just ran it to the back of the alernator on the postitive output. so if anyone with one knowledge in this area could let me know if i  have done something wrong it would be greatly appretiated,

thanks alot,

scott

Does your car have  anti-theft  chip?  if it does then you need a immobilizer interface transponder in oder to start  your car without the key in the ignition switch.

the best way to find out is leaving the key in the ignition switch(just leave it in, dont turn it) and then try to remote atart your car, if it start buy the transponder!

On a ultra start it goes like this:   prking brake applied trans in neutral foot off the brake pedal, then push the brake pedal 2 times the remote start will flash the pkg lights 3 times to indicate it is ready to go, you then take the key out of the ignition and get out of the car it will continue to run until the door is closed (works off the door pin) it is then able to be remote started.
