is it hard to install?

I do all my own car stereo installs, but never did an alarm....but I have electronic training and a voltmeter!

Viper is made by DEI so you'll find their alarms on the Directed Electronics site. Another good two way remote start is made by Ungo, an alarm made by Clarion. Price is about $169 for that unit. Remote start installations are a bit more advanced than a headunit installation of course but if you have training in electronics and a DMM it shouldn't be too difficult for ya, just time consuming. Good luck. 2 way remote start, good low price unit? -- posted image.

yah.....I guess I am on the right track....but wanted to ask to be sure.....

do you have the direct links to the manufactures web sites?  dei and ungo?

every time I look them up ....I get ebayed to death on google.....

so.....115 shipped is not a bad price for the 725/.....right?

they all do about the same thing, and are easy/hard to install in the same way...right?

kinda like if you threw them all in the middle of the room , and picked one.....same results.....ungo/dei/autopage/sumptin star/ and audiovox, right?

trying to get away with this for less that 100 bucks, but I really want the two way remote....so, hey another 20 bucks or so is ok......

any thoughts?

thanks,,,,,

Any Alarm unit will do. Make sure you have some sort of support if you mess up. Say, broken remote, broken antenna, module don't work...etc.
"is it hard to install?"
I think it is only a matter of understanding. If you understand it. It's easy, if you don't then you can have a hell of a time. On the other hand, if you spend enough time on reading material and asking intellegent questions. I don't see why not. What can even make your install go a lot easier is have someone who has done one before to help you out. Otherwise, you could be in for a long fight.
Be careful whose advice you buy, but be patient with those who supply it.2 way remote start, good low price unit? -- posted image.

so I found the clarion site.......now looking for the viper site....

http://www.clarion.com/us/en/products/2006/ungo_security/remote_engine_start/SR6000/us-en-product-pf_1132912143069.html

ok...that makes sense....I do have an idea of what is going on here.......I can always badger the heck outta you guys here!  hhhahahahhahaha

I kid I kid.....

but hey, if one system is easier/better./faster than the other...I would like to know......

or is this like the ford/chevy/pontiac/mopar argument....alll the same....do the same thing....just a personal preference....

at some point, these things seem to have all the fancy stuff....what am I getting after a certain dollar amount?

such as in the autopage line..... like, the carbon fiber remote on the 860vs. the plain remote on the 725.....that is the only difference,  right?  or do I really need more channels....what do they do?  open sunroof, open tailgate, open windows....those are channels, right>?

at some point enough is enough.....my question is....what do people do with all that "functionality"?

The only remote starts I find that are difficult at times are no name ones. You should be pretty safe with the alarms your looking at. As mentioned above make sure there's good support for the R/S you end up choosing.

I kinda like the autopage.....

think I will be ok with the autopage?   any problems to look out for?

BTW, anyone got a wiring diagram for the volvo, 1987 760 turbo?

sure I will need one of those pretty soon...

ONE LAST tthing....

what do most people put on the channels of the remote....yah know....4 channels are usually what, 6  channels hook to what....

autopage is perfectly fine. Great unit and great company backing them up.
Do search on your car in this forum
and do another search about aux channels (several post in past)
