2007 Civic Remote Start Antenna Wire

Hi,  I have a new Viper remote start and SL-3 bypass module to install in my 2007 Honda Civic LX next weekend. I have reviewed the wiring diagrams and it looks pretty straight forward. The only question I have is how to run the wire for the antenna.  Looks like there is space to tuck the wire in and hide it around the windshield, but how to get it up there? Is the trim on the pillar easily removed without damaging the air bag? Thanks for any replies. This is a great forum!   

You can stick the antenna to the windshield, then run the cable under the headliner. In those cars, the headliner pulls away from the windshield easily. When you get to the driver side piller, I wouldn't take it off, the airbag is under there. I have had great results with just pulling the top part of the piller panel away from the headliner a bit and tucking the wire in there. Then remove the rubber weather stripping and tuck the wire all the way down to the kick panel or near there to pull it through to the under dash. Press the rubber weather stipping back on so it keeps the antenna wire in, but dont pinch the wire. When pulling back the piller from the headliner, get a screwdriver and wrap a towel or something around it so you dont damage the pillar or headliner. This is how I do the new civic's and it works great. good luck. Shaun, we are the same height, that is neat!

yes, green6767 has it right, and for pretty much any car. Pull out the weatherstripping that seals the door to the car.....run the wire in there.......tuck it behind the top edge of the A-pillar....tuck it up behind the headliner. For tucking it into the A-pillar, you'll want some type of tool that is rigid but won't scratcth stuff up. At my work, we have these nice plastic sticks. But you could use maybe a popsicle stick, a cheap plastic ruler, or even a butter knife wrapped in electrical tape......something like that. One thing opposite of green6767. I prefer to first plug the antenna cable into my brain..........then run it up the A-pillar and under the headliner........mount the antenna.........and leave the extra antenna cable tucked up under the headliner. That way, if the customer doesn't like the location of the antenna and it has to be moved, it's easy, because the extra cable is already there. Also, several remote-start manufacturers say that those black dots behind the mirror, the ones that block out the sun.......they say that they can hurt range......so you should put the antenna below the dots, or off to one side if you prefer.
