ok well i'm about to do my first grand cherokee. I've done other simple cars before but this one has a few things i'm confused about. such as..... the parking lights....Parking Lights-
yellow       -       headlight switch
Notes: The parking lights are negative trigger thru a 1300 ohm resistor. There is a rest resistance on the wire, so MUST use a relay to isolate away from the switch.
my question is how would i wire that particular relay. and the 1300 ohm resistor is one i add into the system?
or could i avoid using a relay and go with hooking up the hazards as the parking lights?
Hazards      dk. blue/pink       -       hazard switch
Notes: The dk. blue/pink will flash the hazard lights. They will flash even with a latch input to the wire.
And factory alarm disarm
Factory Alarm Disarm
use Directed module 455JW
Notes: If an interface module is not available, use lt. GREEN/ orange at the driver door lock switch in the door. It is negative trigger thru a 463 ohm resistor. MUST use a relay.
How would i wire this relay?
Thanks a lot to all who respond.... This will be the newest vehicle i'll do so it's a little more complicated and i've come across some things i haven't encountered before. Thank you

1. Use the hazards for the parking lights, faster and less hassle.
2.I recommend using the 455JW for the jeep makes install alot faster and eases things up, if not you have to run the trigger wire into the door and wire this;
85 +12V
86 Factory Alarm disarm wire from remote start
87 463ohm resistor to ground
30 output to GREEN/ org
Like I said best thing for these is the 455J, Ive never done em without it!

I agree, 455J is the way to go. As for the parking lights, i know DEI says to 5 wire them but i never do and have never had a problem. The parking lights and headlights share the same wire thru different resistor values. I don't remember the resistor value, but if you take a pack of assorted resistors and keep applying them(grounding one side) until just the parking lights come on you can use that value resistor thru a straight hookup(no 5 wire). I've done this a hundred times with no problems. You are also gonna need a bypass for this truck....

Parking lights: Above the fuses, there's a bank of relays. Touch the relays until you feel the one that clicks when you turn the parking lights on and off.
Pull the relay out, put your tester to the holes on the fusebox where the relay goes, and figure out which one of these tests as ground when you move the parking light switch........then carefully wrap a small wire around that terminal on the relay, and reinstall.
There, you have straight negative parking lights, with no resistor needed.
Factory disarm: Most Grand Cherokees don't even have a factory alarm. On the ones that do have an alarm, sometimes it'll disarm all by iteself with remote start anyway.
Open the driver's window, close all the doors, lock everything with the factory remote, and let it sit for a minute. Reach in through the window and start the engine with the key......if you don't get a horn honk, no need for disarm.
Are you planning to hook up doorlocks to the aftermarket remote? If you use a doorlock module like the 455J or the bypasskit.com JDL-PK, it'll automatically disarm the factory alarm for you anyway.
Transponder key bypass: Like others here have mentioned, if the ignition key is gray, there's an anti-theft transponder in it. You can take away one of the existing keys and put it in a unversal bypass box.......or there are bypasses available that allow you to keep all the existing keys......DEI 555C, bypasskit.com PKU-CH, etcetera.
Take note that with any of those bypass modules, you need TWO good Jeep keys to program......if the Jeep only has one key, you'll need to go have another one made first.

Cool Thanks guys for the replys. It really helped solve my confusions with it. And i'm pretty confident it will go smoothly. So just as a recap the extra add-ons needed for the vehicle are the bypass 556UW if the key is gray. And for the locks 455JW And that is it? Also i will be installing a vision guard with a camera in with it. Are there any known issues with these particular units? such as for example: My Boa system was really sensitive about programming the transmitter. Well thanks a lot for all the replies. I'll let you know how it goes.

556UW will work, but you'll LOSE one of your keys forever---is that good for you?
If not, use one of the various pieces on the market that don't require sacrificing a key.
You didn't mention how many keys you have. If you only have one now, you'll unfortunately need to have the dealer or a locksmith make you another one first.
Yes, 455J is good for the locks. I think the 455J might be out of production, but you'll still be able to find one someplace.
www.bypasskit.com should have a single part that'll combine the functions of the 455J, and the 555C into one unit, for an easier, neater install.
No idea about that Visionguard, but they seem pretty cool. And yes, I have heard many less-than-good things about the Boa, including that you lose transmitter programming if the car's battery dies.
