Hello everyone. First off I apologize if this is a redundant question that has been answered before. Being a part of numerous forums, I know how it is when a newbie asks a question that has been asked/answered countless times. I did a search and found a few topics which led me in the right direction but still did not provide me with any definitive answers.
I'm in the market of purchasing a remote start unit for my 1998 Pathfinder. I would like to get an add-on type so I can start it with my factory alarm. Can someone recommend a particular brand/model? I see there are quite a few on Ebay. I have never delved into alarm/Remote start installation but car stereo wiring and installation I am very familar and capable of. How hard can I expect an RS install to be?
Can someone tell me the pros/cons of getting an add on unit as opposed to unit that has its own remote? I don't particularly like the idea of having to carry another remote.
Thanks in advance to all those who reply!!!

Ultrastart, Compustar, Autostart, Astroflex, DEI are all good product. Some other also, but these are the most common one I run into.

Hard! Remember the first time for anything. You watch tv, reading, ask a friend etc... and then you do more reading... The more you find out about the topic the easier it is.
Best thing is to find a buddy who has done one, otherwise do all the reading that your brain can handle, then ask good ?
Pros- you get better range than the factory remote.
Cons- factory remote has less options when it comes to programming convience feature.
Be careful whose advice you buy, but be patient with those who supply it.Nissan Pathfinder R/S recommendation -- posted image.
