2003 Accord CD changer not working

Hi

I have a 2003 Honda Accord.  I had some work done due to an accident and when I got the car back my 6 disc in dash changer does not work.   My stereo will not even recognize the changer.  Meaning it does not show any of the slots having a disc or empty.  Is there a wire not hooked up or is the problem even larger.

Agreed, most likely damaged. However, since you state the deck does not even recognize a changer it could be an unplugged cable behind the deck or changer. It is easy enough to check that first before assuming a damaged item.

Also it might just need a reset, you could try unpluging the changer for a few minutes and plug it back in or disconnect the battery for a few minutes, perhaps worth a try. Also a possibility that the deck might be the problem as well but no way to know for sure without a way to substitute one or the other. Could also be the cable from the deck to the changer was damaged from the accident but once again you can't be sure unless you actually try another cable or can trace it down and visually find the damage.

If what I told you to try does not work and insurance/warranty won't cover it, the best way out IMO would be to buy a new deck. Just use an indash CD and eliminate the changer altogether. If you really like a changer buy a CD changer ready deck and use the approprate changer with it. The factory replacments are way overpriced and to service a unit damaged from an accident impact is probably not cost effective or reliable anymore.

DOH!  guess I should have paid more attention to the post before that reply. Leave it to Honda to make life difficult. Well it doesn't look that difficult to replace, just expensive and perhaps a little time consuming.

Yes, I would agree that the impact damaged the unit. In dash changers are notorious for getting damaged very easily. I don't see a cheap way out of this one..sorry.
