I have an 01 Dodge Ram, that did not come with factory keyless. The original owner installed a Crime Guard 533i3 (I know it is not a very good alarm, but I am not in a position to replace it right now). My issues are that the siren is pretty weak and the alarm will not lock/unlock the doors. teh original owner wired the doors as a 3 wire positive and connected the alarm green (unlock) wire to the pink/purple wire in the kick panel and the alarm blue (lock) wire to the ORANGE / purple wire in the kick panel. he told me that he was under the understanding that since the truck had no factory keyless it used a 3 wire positive on the unlock and the lock sides. Is that correct? I have found no references to 01 Rams without the factory keyless with a search, unless I am reading the previous topics incorrectly. I am also considering wiring the horn in place of the alarm and wanted to know if there were any diagrams that could assit me? would this be a good idea? and if so would i need to wire in a relay, as the alamr has a brown wire for connecting to an alternate "noise" source.

Thanks in advance, -mike

You (he) has the correct wires, just the wrong type of hook up. The locks are reverse polarity, NOT POS(+).

Thanks for the reply. That is what I was thinking.... So for us lamens... I need to cut the wires and wire relay pins 87a to the switch side of the wire and pins 30 to the motor side, correct?

Also any ideas for the horn?

Thanks again, -mike
