I'm doing an AstroStart 2205 in a 1996 Chrysler LHS. The install went fine. It was actually very easy. Locks, parking lights, brake, disarm, and trunk all worked great. Went to remote start, and it shut down right away. There is no key bypass, so ruled that out right away. The brain shot back two blinks, which was an error code for: Faulty ground, (-) outputs overloaded, or stopped by brake. I relocated my ground to a different spot, triple checked the brake wire and harness...all is well. I know the (-) weren't overloaded, so I even replaced the brain. Same problem...shuts down immediately after starting, sometimes it would crank briefly and not even start. I checked and rechecked all connections. Everything was fine. I went to the black wire at the coil for tach....programmed automatically for 2 cylinders. The problem ended up being that wire actually. I went to the white wire at the coil and it programmed for 2 cylinders. Just wondering if anybody has had this kind of problem before. I have had the #2 error code before, and mostly it was a blown fuse or faulty ground. Never had that error code from a tach issue. Input needed as I am frustrated I dont know the exact answer to this or why it was a tach problem....maybe there is no answer and I just need to live with it.

Your last comment is very true! Just live with it.. I've run into it with tach issues also.. It tends to happen more on thetach learn feature..   But if your ground is NOT good or you splice into the ground wire for other grounds you will get this problem eventually...

Sounds to me like you ARE an official Astro dealer.....have you called tech support?

Also, have you programmed the cylinder reading  manually...just to make sure?

Are you using the multitest 2 or flipping dips?

I'm a technician for an Astro dealer, but this was an "on the side" job. Not sure how that works with tech support....never had to call em before. I always use the dip switches with auto tach learn. I dont use the multitest either. For manually setting the tach with the dip switches, do you just set it till I guess it grinds the starter, then go one cylinder below that? I have never had to do it manually, auto tach learn has worked great so far. How do you guys program tach? How does the multitest work? We have one at work, but I never use the thing. I learned without it, so I figured I didn't need it.

Auto tach usually works great, some cars ,well ya know the routine... as far as setting it manually, astros database tells you what cyl setting and if a reduced rpm is needed on the wireing sheet. The multi test works great! that will always tell you the correct cyl setting and rpm of the car, also for programing and diagnostics. I find it faster to program by dips, but for some of the more complicated installs and goofy programing ya can't beat it. If ya need to call tech support, you need the acct # and pin pass for your shop. The guys are pretty good, just hard to understand [french canadian] but they definitly know their stuff] they just tend to pass the buck when you don't use astros bypasses...

wei wei misure....set the # of cyl. manually, and call it a day. Your problem SHOULD be solved. learning the tach is just a start, you "fine tune " it after that with the cyl. setting.
