Hi I had a Valet 562T remote start keyless entry installed today on my fathers 1999 Lincoln towncar a gift for the holidays
When I used the remote start the first time it stayed running, most of the time it runs for 10 seconds and shuts down.
When it is running and I turn the key to the on position and step on the brake it does not return to the normal operation.
When the Tech demonstrated the sequence he turned the key to the on position and stepped on the brake but when nothing happened he turned the key again went to far and i heard the starter grind
also no toggle switch and he left the valet switch hanging loose under the dash and broke the plate that holds my power window switches on the drivers side
I had this done at PC Richards and Sons in Astoria, NY

the brake may be hooked to the wrong wire, anti grind needs to be turned on, have them put the toggle switch in and fix the plate for the windows.
bring it back to the store.
they need to install properly and fix what they break.

I definatly would not accept it the way it is - nor would I expect my customers to accept it.   Take it back, if they will not do anything - contact DEI customer service at 1-800-283-1344 - they will find you another installer in your aria that will.

When I remote start than turn the key to the on position and step on the brake the car now stays running .........
but for some reason the overdrive on/off light flashes on the instrument panel until I turn the car off with the key than re-start with the key, than its back to normal    Valet 562T -- posted image.

The last problem you describe sounds like they missed an accessory wire. DEI lists 2 ignitions and 2 accessories for the 99 Town Car. In most cars both accessories do not have to be powered for remote start, but from what you have described it appears as if they must all be powered. To the starting and stopping after 10 seconds, this sounds as if the transponder pickup is not properly reading the bypass they installed. It may be as simple as realigning the transponder ring.
You really should take this back to them and have them make good on it.

every time you start up the towncar even when the warm it goes into a fast idle for about 5-6 seconds ( this is normal)
I don't know if this effects the tach learn mode....which you are suppost to press and hold the valet switch with in the first 5 seconds of starting the engine.
maybe this is setting the Over-rev shutdown code......if it is is there a walk around thanks again
