Thanks

Twelvoltz,

Thanks for the posting.  I actually found that manual up on the DEI web site.   I think that model may be different in regard to the way it gets installed, but I may be wrong.  The problem I am having is that the vehicle (1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee) will start remotely for only about 3-5 seconds and then shutdown.  I originally thought it may need to have the tach relearned, but I was unable to use the valet switch to perform tach learning as indicated in the 6500ESP manual.   After starting the vehicle and holding the valet switch in, the led never goes solid, it instead turns off completely after a minute or so.

I then did some additional digging that might suggest it is using voltage sensing and that changing the setting to low might solve the problem.   The 6500ESP manual shows that these settings are in advanced features menu #3.   I tried entering the advanced menu, using the valet switch, but it doesn't advance past the basic menu (one-chirp).   These failed experiences led me to believe that either the system is locked so I can't program it using the valet switch, the procedures described in the manual don't apply to the model of alarm installed, or the thing is just broken.

Any ideas on this issue?

Thanks.

Frank

they are the same as to get installed and lean the tach. you have a shut down menu in the install guide see what is says. also make sure you have right tach wire, also waht kind of connection did you use.

swamprat323,

Thanks for the information.   I did not install the system, it was installed prior to my receiving the vehicle.   So, I have no knowledge as to how it may be wired.  Thanks for pointing out the Shutdown section in the manual, I will try it out when I get a chance later and see what information I get from the diagnostics.
