pro-start in 03' F-350 diesel

i installed a prostart remote starter in an 03 f-350 diesel today and couldnt get the unit to program tach. the info i had said tach is white green by the foot brake, i tested the wire with a dmm and the wire measures about .5 volts at idle and then increases with acceleration. so i dont know if the resting voltage just isnt high enough for the prostart to recognize or what. does anyone have any ideas? i tried two different modules and nothing worked. i used the same product on an 02 F-350 diesel and had no problems, but the 02 and 03 is completly different, has anyone had anyproblems with this? i figure if all else fails i can use a vacumn switch in place of the tach wire since the prostart unit is compatible with a vacumn switch, which raises my next question.... the distributer who sells the prostart units dont carrry the vacumn switches, does anyone know where i can get some? i havent called the manufacturer yet, but i figured i would ask on here as well...     thanks.

Was it the Grn/white wire?  It is located on the large bundle of wires to the left ot the brake pedal, there are four wires taped to the side of the bundle, the do not go anywhere, the ends are taped from the factory.  I just did one of these last Friday, and had no problems using that wire.Hak

The Pro Start's are imfamous for not being able to program the tach or the remote control after hook up. I've had to work with a system for an hour before it finally took the tah programming. Otherwise I suggest brining it back to the place you got it from and getting a new one to replace it or a completely different unit.Jeff

ive installed close to 50 of these units in the past month or so, and ive never had ANY problems with the prostarts except for the few ive used in diesel vehicles. i havent encountered any problems programming tach like Velocity has posted. start vehicle with key, press and hold brake, hit valet switch five times. Does anyone know where to get vacumn switches? ive called iowa import/export who distributes prostart and they dont carry the vacumn switches, ive called the better source, they dont have them. any body know where to get them? im sure a vacumn switch would be an easy solution to this before i rip the unit out and put something else in.

I am not so sure that the truck even has a vacuum pump.

Oh, BTW you are QUITE lucky to have installed 50 of them and never had any trouble.  Be prepared for LOTS of come backs in the next few months/years.
