Hello Everyone,

I could use some help installing a remote start, keyless entry and alarm to a 2001 hyundai elantra which currently has factory keyless entry installed. I'm in the process of installing a Huatai HT800 system.

The first problem I'm seeming to have is triggering the keyless entry. The current keyless entry is negative, I spliced the off line into the power unlock wire (yellow orange), spliced the on line into the power lock wire (yellow) and grounded two more wires from the system. I press lock to arm the system and the doors do not lock. Not sure if my wiring diagram is wrong or if maybe I need a relay for power lock and a relay for power unlock.

I also tried running a power trunk selenoid. I have the wiring down ok but I'm concerned that I have it spliced into the ignition constant 12v along with the car starter. So I have two splices in the ignition 12v constant. I was wondering if this is a concern and should use a different 12v source for the power trunk. If you feel I should any idea where I can locate another 12 V constant.

Another question I have is about the parking lights. I have one negative source and two positive sources for the parking lights. My system I installed has two positive wires coming out. Can I just splice my two positive outputs into the the two positive wire or would I need a relay.

I also have a battery charging indicator or engine oil pressure output from the system, any idea where I would pick up that wire? Do you think I could wire it into the tach wire?

ok last question, I have a power windo output on the new system, any idea where I can splice into this one?

Sorry for all the querstions, This is my first attempt to install a system into my car. I was hoping everything would go well unfortunately I ran into a couple of snafus. Any help would be apprciated.

Thanks,

Brian

What are the "two wires grounded form the system" ???

The power connection for you trunk pop is fine.

On the parking light flash....It is recomended that one use the NEG(-) light flash, Blue at the column.  NOT the pos. You could damage the light circuit. (Per the Astrochart)

I would use a tach signal.... Blue in black plug BEHIND the guage cluster. It's the one in the middle.

Below is the install diagram for the keyless entry. I used the Negative trigger diagram and grounded the yellow and the yellow/black wiress.

For a Negative Trigger it states

NC    Orange                   Cut

COM   White                   Off Signal

NO    Yellow                     Ground

NC   ORANGE / Black                   Cut

COM   White Black    On Signal

NO    Yellow Black      Ground

It doesn't really say ground, there is a symbol with three dashes on top of each other which I'm assuming is ground. Any ideas?

You say to tap the negative parking lights, Can I do this with the positive outputs;  that is all I have in my system for the parking lights, If so do I splice both into the the negative? Do I need a relay to do this?

Thanks your help is definitely appreciated.

Hi, newbie here...I just bought a 2001 Elantra and have a "dumb" question?
How do I tell if there is a Keyless system already in my car?
I know it has electric locks and the car came with a remote for the Hyundai Elantra. (but it may be for a different car).
The remote I have doesn't open or lock when using the remote.
tried a new battery, no good.
looked in the fuse box and it appears there isn't a fuse in the holder marked DRL?
Is there a relay or something to look for that will tell me if it has the Factory Keyless and its just my Remote?
Any inputs appreciated....
